HUNTSVILLE, AL?
The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team wrapped up a tumultuous season tonight.
The team successfully launched a campaign to maintain their division one status.
You can't say they packed the stands for their final home game of this season, but you have to admit they turned out a passionate crowd.
They're drawn to UAH for a reason.
Prospective UAH Student Paul Thomas says, "Because I love hockey so much.? Hockey is my life and love.? It's the first thing I remember watching on television is hockey."
Thomas hopes to join the team next year.? The D1 hockey program drew him to UAH.
Thomas explains, "Not many places that I know have a good school and also a hockey program behind it."
Playing at the division one level presents a special allure for athletes.
UAH Hockey Parent Joe Pierce says, "I think the thing about playing at the Division 1 level is as you're growing up in youth hockey, you always want to try to play at the highest level, whether it's peewee, bantam, squirts, midgets, whatever it is."
Division one extends that goal.? Fans and players alike embrace playing at the highest level.
They're especially excited they'll get another shot at it next year.
Pierce says, "I think everybody is really positive and looking forward to next year."
